We made our way down through our town of Monterosso...
Some kind of cactus growing ...
The view of the harbor while we are awaiting the boat.
It was getting pretty hot, so I found shade here among the stacks of plastic chairs! Arne climbed up onto a path to seek out some shade.
At last, our boat arrived. We all filed on to it. Amazing how many people they crammed on to this boat!
Leaving Monterosso...
Approaching Vernazza's harbor...
Vernazza!
Some of the areas were visible in the aftermath of last fall's storm and flooding, however overall, the town was surprisingly put back together and running smoothly.
Charming town, everywhere you turned.
A large mural in town explaining about the disastrous rain and mudslides that struck last fall, the devastation, and the rebuilding efforts.
We decided to just hike a little ways up to the Corniglia trail for a view from higher up.
Here we are able to see the devastation of the flooding first hand.
The farther up the trail, the prettier the views...
And up we climb...
and the more stairs we encountered...
A clip of the Vernazza harbor and the bell tower chiming:
Arne noticed the waiter down below was wearing a...you guessed it, a SPEEDO suit...Same guy we saw in town! Ha! You can do that here when you live in a town like this!
On the railings were fresh fruit...
Wine and tomatoes...
On the way back down the hill, these caught my eye...
We came upon these singers back in town.
I took a little video clip of them singing:
Then we got my gelato!
Artwork on the wall of the gelato place.
And after we sit and relax, and watch tourists go by, we figure out how to take the train back to Monterosso.
